The thoughts that drag you down and hold you back often stem from the overuse of your greatest strengths.

Strengths become counterproductive when fear or stress distorts them. They turn into liabilities when they’re pushed too far or applied rigidly.

  • Do you procrastinate, avoiding tough tasks and uncomfortable situations? Beneath that, you’re likely easy-going, adaptable, positive, and non-judgmental of others.

  • Do you get angry or anxious when things don’t go your way? Within that, you’re probably action-oriented, decisive, love challenges, and can make tough decisions even when they’re unpopular.

  • Do you seek approval and say “yes” at the expense of your own needs? You’re also likely capable of being empathetic, attuned to others’ feelings, and emotionally self-aware.

  • Do you find it hard to stay still, are easily distracted and juggle multiple tasks? Behind that, you’re probably open, curious, spontaneous, high-energy, and engaging, with a wide range of interests.

The list goes on!

One participant in today’s workshop shared that with this insight, instead of trying to get rid of her unhelpful traits, she now sees the potential to moderate and leverage them.

It’s not about eliminating flaws, but uncovering their hidden potential

So, ask yourself: which of your strengths, when taken too far, become hindrances? And which hindrances, if managed and better utilised, could actually reveal and unleash hidden strengths?
